Being in the local GECDSB high schools recently has made me miss my high school years so incredibly much.
As I stand in their hallways I think of the times I had reading and deciphering Shakespeare; hanging out with my cool biology teacher at lunch; skipping afternoon classes to go to the beach.
I had 3 exciting years of Spanish, 3 excruciating years of French, 3 painful years of math, 4 brilliant years of English, 3 wonderful years of sciences, and 4 years of wandering the hallways when I should have been in music class.
I miss my old friends. I miss the fun we used to have. I miss all the opportunities and extracurricular activities that I missed out on.
I went to a handful of school dances, though I was never asked to any semi-formals and I was never asked to prom. My friends were too stingy to go, so I didn't go, either; I wasn't going to show up alone. I really regret missing out on this event and I promise myself that whatever chance I have to go to another prom (or formal dance event) I will take it.
I do love visiting the high schools, however nostalgic it might make me. I especially enjoyed Walkerville's artwork plastered on the walls. Some of it was incredibly brilliant. There was this zombie piece I really enjoyed.
I can't wait to get to visit and present to more high schools and I really hope I get to go to Riverside and see what's going on there nowadays. I wish I could go back in time and relive all my high school years but I can't; I can only change the time I have ahead of me.
