I remember how my parents used to get me gifts for Valentine's Day. My stepdad used to send me flowers and chocolates at school. One year, I saw a ring in a jewelry ad before Valentine's Day and received it as a gift from my stepdad that year.
One time, my first boyfriend got me a teddy bear, roses, and chocolates for Valentine's Day. He also got me another dozen roses "just because." That was so nice. The chocolates were gone in no time, but I still have the teddy bear.
I am no romantic by any means, and anything with the phrases "walk on the beach," "lay by the fire," and "romantic evening" makes me gag, though all men should know that no matter what, a woman expects men (and her man, especially) to recognize the big V-Day. Whether it means a special date at a restaurant, some unexpected jewelry, or even a surprising evening at home where you are her spa slave and serve her bathtub massages, manicures, pedicures, and many more massages, she expects at least one of the above. So, if you forgot about it this year, you better remember to do something nice every single day for the rest of 2013, and refer back to this post 364 days from now.
